In the slide show below are some of the many demonstration paintings done this year for my watercolor class in Kaneville. Each week I emphasize either composition, color, perspective or techniques for painting different subjects. We work on solving issues within a painting such as: how to create the glow of the setting sun, or how to achieve the look of rushing water, or what color is snow? These paintings are done in three steps, after each step the students then paint their own versions. Step one is the painting of the big abstract spaces in the composition. Step two is defining the shape and form of objects within the picture space. Step three is detail. Classes in Kaneville are held in the Kaneville Community Center on Fridays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Classes at the Palette and Chisel Academy in Chicago are held on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.
