West of the Fox Valley in the little town of Kaneville, on any given Friday afternoon, students are learning about and creating watercolor paintings, as well as enjoying the camaraderie of fellow artists, in a large sunny classroom in the Community Center, once part of the old Kaneville High School.
Classes are held every Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. They are open to all students of all levels of expertise. We have continuing students of every level, all very enthusiastic and welcoming. In each session there will be a critique of work completed the previous week, a new demo, then time to create your own watercolor painting. Consider starting or continuing your art journey this year in an energetic setting, and join us on Friday afternoons! Vaccinations are required. Masks are optional.

The "Watercolor 18" show at the Norris Cultural Center in St. Charles, IL, was well attended. It is always a pleasure to share perspectives with other artists. I received an Award of Merit for my painting "Fishing on the Vermillion". Two of my students who are fine artists in their own right, also won awards. Congratulations to Pattie Seifrid and Fatima Figuerdo.
My painting, "D&M Falls" was selected for the Illinois Watercolor Society's 34th National Exhibition. this past May, 2018 at The Next Picture Show 113 W. First St. Dixon, Illinois 61021
DANADA FINE ART & PHOTOGRAPY NATURE SHOW October, 2017 It is always gratifying to be recognized for one's artwork. I was given an award this past weekend at the annual Danada Fine Art Nature Show. What is more satisfying though, is to have my students recognized for their work. It was a joy to see the surprise and elation on the faces of some of my students. Congratulations to Melissa for a beautiful painting, (which should have won an award in my opinion), and to both Debbie Freerksen and Karen Dodson for receiving awards. Well done! Persistence pays off!
A packed house welcomed me back again this past April for another watercolor demonstration at Dick Blick's in Wheaton, sponsored by the Illinois Watercolor Society.
Thank you for inviting me to give a demonstration at the Artists Association of Elk Grove Village in March. It was a great group who had a lot of good questions. I always enjoy the opportunity to teach to a receptive audience.
North Light Shop published an e-magazine "Painting Water with Oil, Watercolor and Pastel" The cover of the magazine is a portion of one of my paintings, and has a section reprinted from the January, 2014 Artist'sMagazine of my article on painting water in watercolor.
